dribbble / profile
After being invited to dribbble, I started to upload my work! My profile is quite empty at the moment but I am hoping to slowly upload work to truly represent me and my design style.
Carlo Beranek / email conversation
I recently discovered Carlo Beranek's work and instantly fell in-love with his bright colour palette and simple shapes.
I decided to email him to open up a dialogue and see if I can get any feedback on my own work. He replied fairly swiftly and asked me to send him between 3-5 pieces of work that I truly enjoyed making and feel truly passionate about. Looking over my past work I decided to go with my 2017 Penguin design, Pear magazine, Feel Good Drinks and my 2016 Secret 7 entry.
I described my work in detail to him and explained why I had chosen each design. He replied with some nice feedback and asked whether I'd like to be invited to dribbble:
I decided to go ahead with the invite as it's a great opportunity and invites don't get handed out very often! I had never really looked into dribbble before as it's an invite-only platform, though I am thrilled to be a part of the website now!

internship / everyday something meeting
My meeting with James from Everyday Something went extremely well. He spoke as though I had already got the internship, and by the end of the coffee we decided that the best time to begin would be week beginning 13th February for two weeks.
I am hoping this internship will give me a different experience than Oslo. Everyday Something has been a one-man-band for 6 years and now he is ready to expand and potentially have some permanent employees in the future. I'm excited to see what this internship can offer, it seems as though there is a lot of work for me to get stuck into!
dot - dot / initial challenge
I recently came across an advertisement for Dot-Dot, a creative agency based in Leeds that pairs clients with freelancers and gives designers paid work opportunities.
I sent them an email with some examples of my work, hoping to be chosen to take part in some live briefs. They responded a few days later with an initial challenge of creating a poster and logo for dot-dot in my own style:

I am eager to get started with the poster designs and hopefully being chosen as a freelancer for dot-dot. This will earn me some extra money, recognition and professional work for my portfolio.

internship / oslo meeting
Today I met with Oslo to discuss working with them for 1 day a week. They made it clear that it is a very flexible arrangement and they understand the demands of my university course. They have also said I can use some live briefs that I work on as part of my extended practice module which is great!
After tomorrows meeting with Everyday Something I will be able to determine when I can start properly. They said they would like me to start sometime around February which fits into my timetable nicely, and also said I can use their office as a workspace anytime I like!

internship / oslo meeting setup
Unfortunately Oslo didn't contact me about freelancing work, but after the christmas break they contacted me again asking whether I would be interested in interning for one day a week. The position isn't paid but they can offer 'a good time and a glowing reference'.
I will be going to speak with them on Monday 23rd January to discuss details!

internship / everyday something meeting setup
While browsing twitter I noticed that Everyday Something, a design studio in Bradford, was in need of an intern. I wanted to find out more, so I sent them an email inquiring about the position.
I also took the time to look at their website to see if their work is applicable to mine. As I have a strong interest in branding, packaging and bright design in general, I thought that I would be a good fit to Everyday Something.
James emailed me back informing me that the position was for 3 months and paid (!). As my degree is full time and demanding, I replied stating that I could only really commit 1-2 weeks of my time to the internship. Thankfully James still would like to meet me next Tuesday (24th January) to discuss the position in more detail.
